I remember making art pre-kindergarten. I made it because it was what I needed to do. This need has not changed. The word artist was not in my vocabulary. Creating is what I continue to do. Repurposed materials persist; found wood & fabric become a painting surface and recycled paint a medium.
My paintings and mixed-media works explore cultural memory and personal narrative, inviting viewers to engage with embedded stories in my compositions. My career as an artist, educator, and rehabilitation/art therapist adds sensitivity and emotional dimensions to my subjects.
I exhibit nationally at museums and colleges and have been recognized with numerous awards and grants. My work continues to evolve through ongoing participation in juried exhibitions, national art organizations, and artist talks. My dedication to fostering community engagement through art, believing in its power to heal, share, is ongoing.
This gallery showcases selected art from my collection, featuring various media including acrylic on canvas, acrylic on wood, and mixed media on fabric. My career combines fine art, art therapy, and K-12 special education, bringing a lifelong commitment to creative expression.
